Saturday 5th of March
Yesterday was our coolest day to date. There was a strong cold wind and at one stage Ben put on his waterproof trousers and jacket, which he wears in the winter for golf in the UK. There were just the 2 of us playing with 3 men in front and 4 behind. We spent quite a lot of time waiting for the 3 in front of us, which was when we were coldest. The fairways were wide, and the wind was blowing down them. Ben just edged this match, but we were both glad to finish our round and go home to the central heating.

In contrast, today was much warmer and whilst there was still a bit of a breeze, as long as we kept in the sun it was a lovely day. We played on the 'Robbers' Row course', which has some links with crime from a long time ago. We were paired with a Canadian couple who were on holiday here. They were very pleasant company and I commented to Ben that it was about the first time we have played in America with a proper lady golfer. She was very good and could hit the ball a long way. However, I played exceptionally well and was almost able to keep up with her, particularly when her golf faded towards the end. I had a convincing win today (6 under handicap) and Ben is muttering about a handicap adjustment!!
We were pleased to hear from Lucy this evening who has made it to New York with Ed despite her worries about covid testing. At least we are now in the same time zone as them.
Tomorrow and Monday are forecast to be hot before the thunderstorms arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday!
